[8:03 PM] Woden’s Day: IDs?
[8:03 PM] Woden’s Day: Anthony Jay, INPP, outreach chair
[8:03 PM] pmchi: Mitchel Davilo, Chicagoland/ILPP, Swarmcare Manager
[8:03 PM] Woden’s Day: I’m making our agenda right now, but the primary thing to note is that we are still working on that care package
[8:05 PM] Woden’s Day: When we left off, we were looking at simple items we can throw around for various purposes. Namely flyers, buttons, stickers and maybe yard signs.

Sunday’s PNC meeting included some extra discussion. My main takeaway from that is that we should really try to stick to simple items that we can give out in small quantities. Let’s not get sidetracked by anything else for the time being.
[8:07 PM] Woden’s Day: I said something the other meeting about getting into our storefront. However, I’ve been unable to do that, I’ve been a little busy. My apologies.
[8:07 PM] Woden’s Day: @pmchi Do you have anything you’d like to add or have thought about these past few weeks?
[8:09 PM] Woden’s Day: (Also this meeting is technically discussion until someone else joins, so we should probably keep that in mind)
[8:10 PM] pmchi: The only thing of essence I think that has to be revisited is a pamphlet. In the care package, I think it would serve us well to include a welcome pamphlet in with things like stickers, a button or two, a bandana (a great idea from Bosun), and other little nicknacks
[8:12 PM] pmchi: I think to save space and paper, we should throw QR Codes into the pages linking to certain resources (ie. Jamie’s “how to run for office”, Bosun’s “how to start a state party”). Things that are essential and we want them to see, but can’t be simplified into a little pamphlet. Instead, leave the pamphlet as a general welcome, who we are, etc
[8:13 PM] Woden’s Day: Oooh, I like the qr code links
[8:14 PM] pigeon.blood: yes i agree qr codes sound cool.
[8:15 PM] Richard Lee Carro: here.
[8:15 PM] Woden’s Day: Hey there @pigeon.blood! Don't forget to ID to participate when we're on the record. This just needs to include an identifiable name you're comfortable sharing and your state
[8:15 PM] Richard Lee Carro: RICHARD LEE CARRO IN THE HOUSE
[8:15 PM] Woden’s Day: Welcome Richard!
[8:15 PM] Richard Lee Carro: Rlc, Illinois.
[8:15 PM] pigeon.blood: oh ok, Pigeon White, Virginia.
[8:15 PM] Woden’s Day: Sweet! Thank you so much, I am glad you're here
[8:16 PM] Woden’s Day: It may be a good exercise to determine what we would put in a small, single person care package.
[8:16 PM] Richard Lee Carro: another Virginian?
[8:16 PM] Richard Lee Carro: umm this is good news AJ
[8:17 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we have 2 virginians
[8:17 PM] Woden’s Day: For instance: 50 pamphlets, 5 buttons, 15 stickers, a single piece of personal swag
[8:17 PM] Woden’s Day: Something like that
[8:17 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we need a pirate party ribbon type of button for the swag.
[8:17 PM] Woden’s Day: This could help one person feel excited and ready to go. We can have something bigger if they plan to really go out there as well, or if it's 3-5 people instead of 1
[8:18 PM] Richard Lee Carro: alternative to the regular button
[8:18 PM] Richard Lee Carro: @Woden’s Day the issue is, with canvassing..
[8:18 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we dont have such a software
[8:18 PM] Richard Lee Carro: that guides us where to go
[8:18 PM] Woden’s Day: I'm confused. How is this related? Clue me in here
[8:19 PM] Richard Lee Carro: nvm
[8:19 PM] Richard Lee Carro: thought we were talking about something else.
[8:19 PM] Richard Lee Carro: carry on
[8:20 PM] Woden’s Day: No worries!
[8:20 PM] Woden’s Day: Thoughts on the genetic makeup of our starter kit? Especially now that we've done a little research @pmchi @Richard Lee Carro @pigeon.blood
[8:20 PM] Woden’s Day: What should we send an individual pirate ready to help out?
[8:21 PM] Richard Lee Carro: individual pirates shouldn't do this by themselves
[8:21 PM] Richard Lee Carro: not safe
[8:21 PM] Richard Lee Carro: and usually when doing this they should have someone with them
[8:21 PM] Woden’s Day: This isn't for anything large scale, this is just for one person to get started.
[8:22 PM] Richard Lee Carro: oh ok
[8:22 PM] Woden’s Day: Swag for themselves and maybe a small meeting or booth
[8:22 PM] Richard Lee Carro: let's go with it.
[8:22 PM] pigeon.blood: like maybe for somebody to hand out a pamphlet to a friend or something to the sort?
[8:22 PM] Woden’s Day: Yeah yeah, exactly
[8:23 PM] Richard Lee Carro: what about bumber stickers
[8:23 PM] Richard Lee Carro: bumper*
[8:23 PM] Woden’s Day: We've spoken of those, but that feels like a phase 2 thing, something for after we complete our initial mission of producing very basic physical media for the party (which is our current task)
[8:24 PM] Yari: Hello hello. Rose Klein, CA
[8:24 PM] Richard Lee Carro: what's the cost of this anyways
[8:24 PM] Richard Lee Carro: isn't it expensive lmwo
[8:25 PM] Yari: cost of what, richard? It depends on what exactly we put in the package - which we haven't nailed down yet.
[8:25 PM] Richard Lee Carro: well the package all together
[8:25 PM] Woden’s Day: We have a budget of 500 and a generous outreach chair that makes slightly more than minimum wage
[8:25 PM] Richard Lee Carro: is that generous person me
[8:26 PM] Yari: that's what we're trying to determine. We have essentially a blank check, but it seems that we should be cautious about how far we go with that
[8:26 PM] Woden’s Day: Y-you're not the outreach chair
[8:26 PM] Richard Lee Carro: oh yeah
[8:26 PM] Yari: lol
[8:26 PM] pigeon.blood: >For instance: 50 pamphlets, 5 buttons, 15 stickers, a single piece of personal swag
i think 50 is a bit excessive, some thing like 25 pamphlets would probably be more suited for the purpose
[8:26 PM] Richard Lee Carro: disagree. 50 is good.
[8:27 PM] Woden’s Day: Well, it depends on our target audience
[8:27 PM] Woden’s Day: The feedback I got from the PNC is that this isn't a canvasser's toolkit or anything, it's a starter kit. "State starter kit" was probably a misnomer
[8:27 PM] Yari: going to do some research rn
[8:28 PM] Richard Lee Carro: instead of buttons, we should have ribbon buttons.
[8:28 PM] Richard Lee Carro: flash out more.
[8:28 PM] Richard Lee Carro: and look fancyyy
[8:28 PM] Yari: buttons are about 50 cents each, when purchased in bulk
[8:28 PM] Yari: for the regular size
[8:28 PM] Woden’s Day: Ribbon buttons aren't exactly known for their political purposes.
[8:29 PM] Woden’s Day: Interesting, okay.
[8:29 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we need large buttons
[8:29 PM] Richard Lee Carro: and we need a pirate shirt and cap too
[8:29 PM] Woden’s Day: The establishment gets along just fine with some pretty small buttons, you know. You'd be surprised what can make someone feel included.
[8:29 PM] pigeon.blood: it'd be a lot more noticable/interesting for that reason
[8:30 PM] Yari: stickers are about 30 cents each, ordered in bulk
[8:30 PM] Woden’s Day: Fair point. Though, button design is a later topic.
[8:30 PM] Richard Lee Carro: yeah. makes us stand out.
[8:30 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we aren't the average political party
[8:30 PM] pigeon.blood: yeah lets decide if we will have buttons first.
[8:30 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we need to big and brash
[8:30 PM] Richard Lee Carro: ribbon buttons
[8:30 PM] Yari: and having worn a large pirate button on a shirt, I wholly disagree. a shirt stands out more than a large button. large buttons are just a pain
[8:31 PM] Woden’s Day: I'm hearing that we could probably give away a handful of starter kits yearly with the budget we're estimating
[8:31 PM] Woden’s Day: Not an infinite amount, but enough
[8:31 PM] Woden’s Day: And when we can't provide, we can sell.
[8:31 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we need great flyer design BTW.
[8:31 PM] Richard Lee Carro: if we gonna buy smtn
[8:31 PM] Richard Lee Carro: needs solid design.
[8:32 PM] Richard Lee Carro: make most of value
[8:32 PM] Woden’s Day: Design is another topic, though I understand being excited to get to it. I am too. First we need to figure out what we're making though.
[8:32 PM] Richard Lee Carro: Pirate party hats?
[8:32 PM] Yari: pre-folded brocures are 10 cents each, not-folded are less
[8:32 PM] Woden’s Day: We will consider design after we figure what it is we're producing.
[8:32 PM] Yari: remember that these numbers add up
[8:33 PM] pigeon.blood: if we have the starter kit price out under 10 dollars, we could send out about 50 a year.
[8:33 PM] Richard Lee Carro: and it won't cheap
[8:33 PM] Yari: I thin it was recommended to keep it under 5
[8:33 PM] Richard Lee Carro: we should do it the whole grandma style.
[8:33 PM] Richard Lee Carro: print it, or draw
[8:33 PM] Richard Lee Carro: and color
[8:33 PM] Richard Lee Carro: save the penny
[8:34 PM] Yari: elaborate?
[8:34 PM] Richard Lee Carro: draw the flyers
[8:34 PM] Richard Lee Carro: or print
[8:34 PM] Richard Lee Carro: don't buy it.
[8:34 PM] Woden’s Day: 20 pamphlets, 9 stickers, 4 buttons would be what, 7 bucks?
[8:35 PM] Woden’s Day: We aren't quite that desperate haha.
[8:35 PM] Yari: The nice thing about this is that we can also go ahead and give everyone that we give a starter pack to the files for printing these same things
[8:35 PM] Yari: so that they could print extras themselves
[8:35 PM] Woden’s Day: Oh yeah, that's why I've been so adamant that this is the start of a better pirate resource database.
[8:36 PM] Woden’s Day: The files and designs should be online
[8:36 PM] Yari: agreed
[8:36 PM] pigeon.blood: agreed
[8:36 PM] Yari: 6
[8:37 PM] pigeon.blood: so we can cut out expenses for pamphlets?
[8:37 PM] Yari: I don't think we should cut out pamphlet expenses entirely
[8:37 PM] Woden’s Day: Doing this first round is a courtesy. From there we make sure they have access to DIY, or they can pay us, or we can see if we still have enough freebies in the bank (which we will always want to have, being the pirates and all)
[8:37 PM] Yari: unless we take on the task of printing them ourselves
[8:38 PM] Yari: giving them sort of a starter set of pamphlets as a courtesy is a good thing
[8:38 PM] Yari: then if they need more, also having a pointer to the online file
[8:39 PM] Woden’s Day: We have to offload some of the work somewhere. We don't have the resources to live off the land. Not even the GOP has their own in-house propaganda printing press.
[8:39 PM] Woden’s Day: Well, probably not. Who knows with them.
[8:39 PM] Yari: the GOP is big, I don't think that's a particularly good counter-example
[8:40 PM] Woden’s Day: They might, but the fact it's only a "they might" makes me stand by that haha.
[8:40 PM] Woden’s Day: Point is, we shouldn't make everything ourselves by hand. That's career suicide.
[8:40 PM] Yari: printing pamphlets, we could do though
[8:40 PM] Yari: its... not impossible
[8:41 PM] Yari: Thing is it'll incur costs one way or another
[8:41 PM] Yari: its probably cheaper to run it through a bulk supplier
[8:41 PM] pigeon.blood: the purpose of this kit isn't for a huge table or anything, i feel like whoever receives the kit could most likely print out their pamphlets, we could examine exceptions on a case by case. set aside like 30 bucks or something maybe.
[8:41 PM] Woden’s Day: Do we want to pay in time, money, and labor? or just money?
[8:41 PM] Yari: also the 10 cents per brochure was probably the high cost version
[8:42 PM] Yari: that was a quick search
[8:42 PM] Woden’s Day: Interesting, alright
[8:42 PM] Woden’s Day: If we can have someone else do it for a low cost, that sounds like a good deal to me.
[8:43 PM] Yari: yeah I wouldn't be surprised if we can get it down to like 3 cents per page
[8:43 PM] pigeon.blood: what is a low cost?
[8:43 PM] Woden’s Day: I think we should value our time before anything else. After all, that’s time the person printing the pamphlets and mailing them by hand could have spent forwarding the party.
[8:44 PM] Yari: are the pamphlets meant to be mailed?
[8:45 PM] Woden’s Day: So far I’ve been hearing that we’re physically sending someone a package the first go around.
[8:45 PM] Woden’s Day: At least, that’s how I understand it.
[8:46 PM] Yari: oh yeah sure of course
[8:46 PM] Woden’s Day: My only point is that I’d like us to automate where we can. Other than that, I should probably be leaving it up to the committee. I’ll step back for these last 15 minutes or so.
[8:47 PM] Woden’s Day: (This is everyone else’s cue to step forward and start fighting)
[8:47 PM] pigeon.blood: bcuz like if its 3c per page, and theres 50 packages, with 50 each, thats 75 dollars, and 15% of our budget.
[8:48 PM] pigeon.blood: and so far nobody's mentioned shipping
[8:49 PM] Yari: shipping is a one time thing per package we send out. While not negligible, it is unfortunately variable
[8:49 PM] Yari: I agree that its important
[8:51 PM] pigeon.blood: what would be the approximate size of each package?
[8:51 PM] Yari: I mean, that's a great question
[8:52 PM] Yari: given what all has been said so far, my best guess is that it won't be any larger than a regular piece of paper
[8:52 PM] Yari: 8.5x11
[8:52 PM] Yari: stickers and pamphlets and buttons
[8:52 PM] Yari: and certainly barely thicker
[8:52 PM] Yari: not much thicker than a centimeter
[8:53 PM] pigeon.blood: will we ship them via usps or something else?
[8:54 PM] Yari: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
[8:54 PM] Yari: that is up for us to determine
[8:54 PM] Yari: we should maybe do some research on which would be cheaper
[8:54 PM] Yari: or if we have a preference that strongly outweighs that particular metric
[8:55 PM] Yari: personally, I care more for USPS but
[8:55 PM] Yari: if the costs are an issue then we should go that route
[8:55 PM] pigeon.blood: i'll look up some prices and be right back
[8:56 PM] pigeon.blood: where'd we be shipping from?
[8:56 PM] Yari: flat rate envelope is 8 bucks for USPS
[8:56 PM] Yari: and I don't know where we'd be shipping from, that is also unknown
[8:56 PM] Yari: @Woden’s Day why have you abandoned us
[8:57 PM] Yari: "fight it out" hilarious
[8:57 PM] Yari: this is not a gladiator arena
[8:57 PM] Woden’s Day: Like god, I watch from the heavens to see what unfolds.
[8:57 PM] Yari: great
[8:57 PM] Yari: love it
[8:57 PM] Woden’s Day: I’m heading that we’re starting to get into the logistical things, though.
[8:57 PM] pigeon.blood: i like the idea of usps, as if i don't know where we're shipping from, its impossible to determine average price
[8:57 PM] Woden’s Day: Is this the proper direction? I don’t know if we’re that far along
[8:58 PM] Yari: I mean, it doesn't matter if it is
[8:58 PM] Yari: we need to know details before we figure out direction
[8:58 PM] Yari: that's the point
[8:58 PM] Yari: we need to know more about prices before we decide on what to do
[8:59 PM] Yari: we know that we will be shipping them at some point, ergo figuring this out is a reasonable question.
[8:59 PM] Yari: As for the contents of the pack itself: Pamphlets, stickers, buttons.
[8:59 PM] Woden’s Day: We are nearing the end of the meeting. I know that due to our busy schedules, giving ourselves homework hasn’t worked out too well so far. It’s always an option, though.
[9:00 PM] Yari: I will be setting up a 'pirate office hours' in which I am on here to do homework so
[9:01 PM] pigeon.blood: i think if we are to be shipping by envelope, it'd be impossible to send 50 pamphlets
[9:02 PM] Yari: Hmmm... I can actually find out rn, hang on.
[9:04 PM] Woden’s Day: After these results come in, we are over time and I would suggest we adjourn.
[9:04 PM] pigeon.blood: alright, understood.
[9:04 PM] Yari: yeah it fits
[9:04 PM] Yari: just fine
[9:04 PM] Yari: with room to spare
[9:04 PM] Yari: in the flat rate envelope, at least
[9:05 PM] Yari: these things are huge
[9:05 PM] Yari: also I have a whole bunch of them apparently
[9:05 PM] Yari: so uh
[9:05 PM] pigeon.blood: alright, so 15usd per package?
[9:05 PM] Yari: including shipping, yes
[9:06 PM] Yari: though of note - if I can somehow send my envelopes to the place where they will be shipped from, or if the stuff can be printed by/ sent to me
[9:06 PM] Yari: then I can just use my envelopes
[9:06 PM] Yari: seriously I forgot how many are in this house, its absurd
[9:07 PM] Yari: at least 20
[9:07 PM] Woden’s Day: …Interesting
[9:07 PM] pigeon.blood: alright, good luck with your mail surplus..
[9:07 PM] Yari: old roommate ran a small business
[9:07 PM] Yari: and then left?
[9:07 PM] Yari: without the stuff
[9:07 PM] Yari: anyway moving on
[9:07 PM] Woden’s Day: On that note
[9:07 PM] Yari: haha
[9:07 PM] Woden’s Day: Any motion to adjourn?
[9:07 PM] Yari: so moved
[9:08 PM] pigeon.blood: left 160 dollars worth of mail.
[9:08 PM] Woden’s Day: @pigeon.blood You may second if you’d like
[9:08 PM] Woden’s Day: The closing process is technically democratic, I can only suggest
[9:09 PM] pigeon.blood: i honestly have no idea what these words mean, i have nothing to add and should definitely shut up now.
[9:09 PM] Yari: lol
[9:09 PM] Woden’s Day: I’ll take that as a second!
[9:09 PM] Yari: sure
[9:09 PM] Woden’s Day: All in favor?
[9:09 PM] Yari: yep let's end
[9:10 PM] Yari: good enough for today
[9:10 PM] pmchi: Aye
[9:10 PM] Woden’s Day: @Richard Lee Carro @pigeon.blood You may either vote for or against closing at this stage
[9:10 PM] pmchi: (like God wodensday, I also have been lingering from the heavens)
[9:12 PM] pigeon.blood: aye
[9:12 PM] pigeon.blood: (idk what right word is)
[9:12 PM] Yari: yeah that works
[9:13 PM] Yari: unless wodensday asks for a specific word, its anything affirmative or otherwise
[9:13 PM] Woden’s Day: Assuming Richard may not currently be with us, I am going to adjourn the meeting.
[9:13 PM] Yari: p informal
[9:13 PM] Woden’s Day: Meeting adjourned at 10:13 eastern time.
